“My practice unfolds through continual uncertainty and experimentation. The works that emerge form fields in which lines and shapes alternately become figure and ground, creating an all-over painterly space. From the structure of one field, the next work often takes shape—an ongoing source of renewal and intensity.
Within these fields, unconscious lines and forms gather and disperse, echoing images of concentration and diffusion shaped by the social restrictions of the pandemic. In this sense, the work begins to resonate as a reflection of the contemporary world.
By further pursuing my central concern—the relationship between ground and figure—I hope this body of work marks a moment of progression within my practice.”
制作活動は、暗中模索と試行錯誤の連続で、その中で出来上がった作品の多くは、さまざまな線や形態が図とない或いは地となり、画面全体としていわばい色画のフィールドとなっています。そのフィールドの構成からさらに次の制作のつながることもあり、それは、新鮮かつ刺激な世界を生み出す源泉にもなっていると自覚しています。
無意識的な線や形態はこのフィールドの中で、「集い」や「散り」或いは「集中」と「分散」というコロナ禍での人々の活動や行動制限のイメージにも繋がり、それは、ある意味では現代世界を表象するかのようにも思えて来ました。
作家のメインテーマである”地と図の関係”を更に追求したもので、結果として創作上の進展が得られていれば、幸いです。
